Why did you choose to work in healthcare? I knew healthcare was the choice for me from a very early age. I wasn’t sure where in healthcare, and thankfully Emergency Medicine found me, but I knew I wanted to help people. So when I decided to join the US Army and was given the opportunity to be a combat medic, traveling all over the world and taking care of soldiers, I knew I had made the right choice for me. I have never looked back and now have been a licensed PA for 20 years.

"Working in rural Georgia across emergency departments, clinics, and inpatient services is very rewarding. And, the most rewarding thing for me is when I can take care people from that community in their community hospital. Being a part of SouthlandMD has been the best decision I could have made."

What do you enjoy most about your job (working across several locations)? The most rewarding thing for me is when I drive to a small rural town in Georgia and have the opportunity to take care of people from that community in their community hospital. Often the people (nurses0 working with me are from that area and I enjoy the teamwork as we take care of “the locals”. It’s a great sense of accomplishment for me.

Why do you work for SouthlandMD? For years I thought what would I do after I left the US army. I wanted to continue practicing Emergency Medicine, but I wanted to do something challenging. When I spoke with Dr. Williams and he told I could work in rural settings across Georgia, in critical access hospitals, and take care of sick patients, I was “all in.” And, I’ve been “all in” since. Working with SouthlandMD is the best decision I could have ever made.
